SISC Still in Session During the Pandemic

It has been awhile since updating our activities once opening our season last August.  Despite the Covid-19 pandemic this past year, Sycamore has managed to conduct our club sessions and LTS classes (with modification) successfully.  Initially it was slow in moving forward as Perry Park was under strict guidelines in offering skating times for the user groups.  By October, group and public sessions with number limitations was initiated, so we were able to begin a portion of our LTS classes.  Sadly, it wasn’t possible to include our Snowplow Sam or young Basic 1 kids, and we miss having them as so many were anxious to get started.  With any luck, we will be able to invite them back when our 2021-22 season begins.  Other missed opportunities for our members was the cancelation of so many competitions.  Without these events, it has been hard to maintain a purpose or goal to work towards.  The good news is that many adults have been taking our adult  classes this season, and it has been fun to watch them progress.  It is certainly providing them an option to get out and get some fresh air and exercise, having fun at the same time!  The other good news is that short of the city initiating a shut down again due to the virus (keep health and safety a priority!!), we look to end our season on April 24, and in the next few weeks, put on our annual show, also reformatted to fit the current situation.  But at least the skaters will have an opportunity to demonstrate virtually the skills they have continued to...

We’re Back!

Despite the pandemic and the havoc it has caused all of us, Sycamore ISC and Perry Park Ice Rink are back in business.  Perry has been opening in stages to make sure the users stay safe, and SISC has been meeting as a club, but soon will welcome back our LTSer’s as well.  The park is limited in the maximum numbers of skaters on the ice, and masks are being required in the building and on the ice, so be advised if you come to skate.  Public skating and weekly freestyle sessions will begin starting September 19.  See our ice schedule for...
