Classes

Each season, Sycamore Ice Skating Club offers four sessions of group instruction. Our Saturday classes are for all ages and levels, while our Thursday class is specifically for adults, at least 18 years old.

When you enroll for classes, you are signing up for one hour of skating each week, which includes a 30-minute lesson and a 30-minute practice. Depending on the level, skaters may have the class first and then a practice.

All skaters begin in Snowplow Sam if they are 3-5 years old or Basic 1 if they are at least 5 years old.

We ask parents to watch their skaters from the bleachers. Please do not stand in the hockey boxes or doorways, so skaters can focus on the coach during their lessons.

SISC will again offer power skating class for those skaters at higher levels (past the lower Basic levels).  This class will take place on Thursday following club:  6:50-7:20 pm.  This is for the figure skater,  hockey player, and other skaters (must know how to skate) wanting to work on speed and endurance.

Typical class times:
As last year, we have 90 minutes as part of our LTS time which should allow for more classes to accommodate more skaters without overloading the class size.  Each skater has one hour of that time for class and practice.  Classes will begin at 12:20 pm, ending at 1:50 pm.
Class times may vary depending on the number of skaters enrolled in each level.  The first-time skater will be in the first 1/2 hour class so they know what skills to start practicing during their practice time.  Those in the second 1/2 hour will start class at 12:50, and the third 1/2 hour class starts at 1:20.  The practice time will vary depending on which 1/2 hour the lesson is in.

5:40 to 6:40 pm on Thursdays:  adults only
