Great news!

Great news!

Monday afternoon freestyle sessions are back at Perry Park! See Amy Browning’s message: “I heard from Paul at Perry today and we will be getting Monday Freestyle sessions from 3:30-5:00! Total Package Hockey has agreed to use Mondays as a rest day. Therefore they will be using Fridays for their sessions.  If TPH is traveling on Fridays, then Paul may be able to open up an additional freestyle time. Please plan to utilize the Monday freestyles often so we can show the rink and higher management that freestyle times are important and not a waste of ice time. The board worked hard to get this time back and the TPH group did make a concession in their schedule to accommodate us. Please use the freestyle time to again show your support....

Mary Coley: “Skating at Perry Park has changed my life”

Mary Coley: “Skating at Perry Park has changed my life”

Mary Coley, one of our Learn to Skate USA skaters, started skating at the beginning of last season. After hours and hours of hard work on Perry Park’s public sessions, she passed Free Skate 1 at the end of the season. We can’t wait to see what she accomplishes this coming season. Mary wrote the following to share how the club, rink and Learn to Skate has impacted her life: Skating at Perry Park has changed my life. Walking into the rink last year, I didn’t know what was in store for me. Meeting the staff, coaches and club members was a honor. They were all so unbelievably kind and helpful. It’s a positive environment. They have endless encouragement and are all kind hearted and super fun to be around. I joined LTS and learned many skating skills, met wonderful people and made new friends. Coach Ellie gave me amazing advice to help me improve, always lifted my spirit and really inspired me. The people you’re surrounded by really push you to do your best. This journey has taught me how to have strength and courage, face fears, beat anxiety and overall grow as a person. My first competition terrified me, but Coach Taylor and everyone in the club and even people I met skating at Perry Park public sessions wished me luck and supported me. I owe a big thank you to all of you. The people at the rink are truly like a big happy family, and I’m honored to have met all of...
Perry Park schedule update

Perry Park schedule update

Perry Park’s schedule for the 2019–2020 season does not include after school Monday freestyle sessions or after school public sessions. Please see Club President Amy Browning’s message below for more information. Hello All, Last night all the user groups of Perry Ice Rink met to discuss how we can all cooperate and communicate effectively to share the space at Perry Ice Rink.  Some of you may already be aware, but there are 2 new hockey groups utilizing the ice as well as the South Stars.  The hockey groups are still finalizing their schedules, but thankfully our calendar is set.  However, with 3 hockey groups now utilizing ice time, many public skate and freestyle sessions have been eliminated.  Once the hockey teams have their tournaments and games scheduled (hopefully by early October), additional freestyle times will likely be added to the schedule.  I will be able to communicate those in a fairly timely manner, but for now the schedule that we do have to work with is below.  Again, the times are not ideal, but Paul is working to try to convince the higher ups in the Parks Department that additional ice is needed at Perry so he’s filling ice space everywhere.  We must remember that more time will likely be added on Saturday and Sundays after game times are set.  Paul scheduled in several hours on Friday night, Saturday afternoon and evening, and lots of time on Sunday for games.  Not all these times will be needed so more will be added, but perhaps not at a set time each week.   Monday freestyle 2:00-3:50 pm. Friday freestyle 4:00 pm-5:10...
